Music Fest

The 2011 WUMB Music Fest will be held on Sunday, June 5th. There will be three stages of great entertainment from Noon to 7PM. Volunteers are the "heart and soul" and "nuts and bolts" of the Festival.

Requirements of Volunteers

The WUMB Music Fest is a 99 percent volunteer operation. Volunteers conduct themselves in such a way to improve the Music Fest experience for all participants. Volunteers may earn free admission to the festival by performing volunteer shifts.

The formula we use is: if you work 4 hours on Sunday, June 5th during the event, you receive free admission. If you work 6 hours on Saturday, or Sunday doing setup or cleanup, you receive free admission. If you work 8 hours in advance of the festival, you receive free admission.

Some super-volunteers (we call "crew chiefs") head up major areas of work. General volunteers take an assignment under the direction of a Crew Chief.

Crew Chief Meeting

There will be a Crew Chief Meeting on Tuesday, May 3rd at 6:30, location at UMass Boston TBA. There are a few Crew Chief Assignments still available; if you are interested in being a Crew Chief, please send an email to folkfest@umb.edu , preferably before April 20th.

General Volunteer Orientation Session

Festival volunteers must attend an orientation session the week before the festival. The orientation meeting allows everyone to get "on the same page" and to meet the festival crew chiefs and fellow-volunteers. This year, the meeting is Wednesday, June 1st at 6:30pm; location: Healey Library Building, Lower Level, Presentation Room 2. .

Application process
